Four Archetypes of Wellness Providers

Marketing in the wellness industry requires knowing your brand and approach. One way to narrow your understanding is to start by identifying your archetype or combination of archetypes. In the wellness industry, there are four main archetypes of providers: the guide, the soother, the expert, and the agitator. Which one or combination of types are you?

The Guide

The guide is there to walk you through the steps of change. They are supportive and non-judgmental, but they also hold you accountable. If you need someone in your corner cheering you on and helping you stay on track, a guide is the type of provider you're looking for.

The Soother

The soother is someone who is compassionate and empathetic. They make you feel seen and heard and provide a safe space to process your emotions. If you're looking for someone to help you understand and make peace with your past, a soother is likely the type of provider for you.

The Expert

An expert is someone who knows a lot about a specific topic. They're often passionate about their work and love sharing their knowledge. Suppose you're looking for someone to help you learn more about yourself or a particular subject. In that case, an expert is probably the type of provider for you.

The Agitator

The agitator is someone who challenges you to think differently. They make you uncomfortable to help you grow. If you're looking for someone who will push you out of your comfort zone, an agitator is likely the type of provider for you.

Which Wellness Type or Combination of Types Are You?

Now that you know a little bit more about the four main archetypes of wellness providers, which one or combination of types are you? Do you identify most with being a guide, a soother, an expert, or an agitator? You may identify with being a combination of two or more types. Or none of these types quite fit - and that's okay too! The most important thing is understanding how you show up as your authentic self and working to stay consistent in this branding in your online presence.
